Painted Voices 

Painted Voice: An Artist Journey into the World of Black Writers, is a series of 28 portraits of the most celebrated Black writers in the world.

My journey began with my travels to bookstores and lecture halls for several years in search of the writers creative process. What are their collective thoughts on the struggle and survival of African Americans in America? How difficult was it to process the topics of slavery, segregation and injustice into their writings?

In my research and readings of their stories it was brought to light their dedication to document every aspect of African American life in America.

 

The  portraits are a composite of the writers ideas, life and interests. A few authors included in the series are James Baldwin, Zora Neale Hurston, Sonia Scnchez, Richard Wright and Toni Morrison and many more.

Each painting measures  30x40 in size and all are oil on canvas. Painted Voices has been exhibited widely in the US and is available for booking.
