Documenting The Cane
River Creoles

Creole Family Tree.jpg

I was given the opportunity to creat a series of paintings to document the people and historic buildings of the Cane River Creoles. The exhibition grand opening at the was held at the George and Leah McKenna Museum of African American Art New Orleans, August 8, 2005, a month before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. There are thirty oil on canvas paintings in the series. The paintings were moved a few days before the storm hit and stored in a Cub Samart unit in across the river in Gretna.
